Abrasive Blasting
Historically, sand was the material used in abrasive blasting but it had to be strained to a uniform size. Materials have been developed that assures a uniform size with different stripping capabilities.
Abrasive blasting is the generic term for the process of smoothing, shaping, and cleaning hard surfaces by forcing solid particles across that surface at high speeds. The effect is similar to using sandpaper; however, abrasive blasting provides a more even finish with the ease of cleaning corners and crannies where sandpaper cannot reach.
While abrasive blasting delivers not only a way to clean surfaces of rust, paint, scale, corrosion, and other impurities, but also leaves a “rough” surface for coatings to adhere. This rough surface allows the performance of many coatings can be enhanced to provide excellent flexibility as well as corrosion resistance.
We have an 18’tall X 18’ wide X 60’ long blast room and an additional 14’tall X 24’wide X 40’ long blast room for all types of applications and parts sizes. Both rooms utilize recyclable abrasives and have 2 operator capabilities to insure that your project moves through quickly.
Applications of abrasive blasting would be:
- Removal of rust and paint from industrial equipment
- Fabrication components, structural steel or pipe, in prep for painting or coating
- Cleaning of manufacturing equipment
Abrasive blasting can be performed either at our facility, or onsite with our mobile services. Our trained staff can assist you with the correct solution to your surface prep problems. Pro Blast Technology, Inc. will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have about your particular project.
